122 Main Road, McLaren Vale
“McLaren Vale: Our Community, Our Stories”
Officially opened by The City of Onkaparinga Mayor Lorraine Rosenberg,
11 December 2017
This mosaic is a result of the collaborations between local artist Claire Kennett and project manager Anne Rhodes. Claire’s design is intended to reflect, engage and promote the community of McLaren Vale to both locals and visitors.
The mosaic features an undulating road, avenues of grape vines, Almond Blossom trees and coastal areas.
On the left is a cyclist and the chequered flag representing the Tour Down Under and on the right a lady at a café with her dog, and a mandala representing our artistic and café cultures.
The community was engaged in this mosaic project in many ways. Thanks go to the City of Onkaparinga Community Streetscape Grant Program, local business sponsors, technical helpers, the artists, community groups and volunteers who created the mosaic. Thanks also to the many people who donated materials, crockery, tiles and especially those who provided encouragement.
All those involved in the mosaic project hope you enjoy this beautiful and enduring artwork.
