Seventeen people in South Australia have yesterday tested positive for COVID-19. There have now been a total of 67 confirmed cases in South Australia.
There are small clusters of community transmission in other states, but none present in South Australia as yet.
In her press conference yesterday, Dr Nicola Spurrier urged South Australians to reconsider all travel. “Reduce the amount of non-essential travel, particularly with school holidays and Easter coming up. Stay home and enjoy your local area.”
“Everybody has a responsibility when we have a public health emergency such as COVID-19 regardless of what your age is. Whether you are a young child, a 30 year old, a 40 year old, a 60 year old. Because infectious diseases pass onto one another we all have a very important role to play.”
“Unless we all act together as a community we won’t be able to fight it effectively.”
Dr Spurrier stresses we need to rethink our behaviour. We must follow the government guidelines:
- Wash and dry your hands properly
- Cough into your arm or tissue
- Stay at home if you are sick
- Practice social distancing
