8-in-a-row for reigning premier Willunga in the GSFLW

Reigning premier Willunga won their eighth game in a row in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition after defeating Myponga-Sellicks by 62 points at Strathalbyn on Sunday. Willunga played a strong first half to lead by 37 points at the long break. A further four goals to one in the second half saw the Demons run out winners 12.9 (81) to 3.1 (19). Jessica Harris, Lauren Clifton, Tamara Page, Sarah Wright and Ellen Tyminski all kicked two goals for Willunga, as did Kailey Webb for the Mudlarks. Best players for the Demons included Clifton, Katrice Turner, Kirstin Remfrey, Tessa Kohn and Tyminski. Myponga-Sellicks were best served by Carla Humphrys, Webb, Charlotte Collins, Elsie Upton and Molly Agnew.


McLaren Districts won their eighth game of the season with a 73-point win last Friday night against Victor Harbor. The Eagles were very accurate as they kicked 12.3 (75) to 0.2 (2). Layla Rogers (3), Sally Fuller (2), Kiahni Russell (2) and Alycia Hepburn (2) were the multiple goalkickers for McLaren Districts. The Eagles' best players included Rogers, Sam Pratt, Emily Rowe, Katrina Munzberg and Hepburn. Best players for ‘Victor’ were Aloura Kirk, Skye Kartinyeri-Sumner, Demi Morse, Halle Crowe and Lily Harrison.


Goolwa/Port Elliot kept the pressure on for a top-two spot with a tough 18-point win against Yankalilla/Encounter Bay at Strathalbyn on Sunday. The final scores were Goolwa/Port Elliot 4.2 (26) to Yankalilla/Encounter Bay 1.2 (8). Indiana Quaremba kicked two goals for the Magpies, while Annabella Walden kicked the only goal for the Stingrays. Best players for the Magpies included Indi Miller, Kalani Bates, Renee Moon, Laura Jones and Taya Forbes. The Stingrays were best served by Jaimi Griffen, Walden, Jemma Ellis, Kimberly Robinson and Tegan Cross.
