The Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth (CLLMM) Research Centre will hold its inaugural science forum on Saturday 15 June 15.

Designed to foster community involvement, the forum will feature a diverse range of sessions catering to all age groups, from interactive morning sessions for children to in-depth discussions with researchers during afternoon and evening sessions.

The event sessions will include:

Puddle Play: 9am-9.45am Geared towards children aged 2-4, this session offers an exploration of the CLLMM area's wildlife and environment through the lens of Ngarrindjeri culture, featuring storytelling and engaging activities.

Splashy Scientists: 11am-12noon Tailored for kids aged 6-10, this program delves into climate change science with a focus on Ngarrindjeri culture, incorporating hands-on activities and interactive experiences.

Meet the Researchers: 1pm-3pm An opportunity to interact with researchers and learn about upcoming research projects through engaging presentations.

Speed dating...with science: 6pm-8.30pm An evening of exploration into the complexities of the Murray-Darling Basin, featuring a guest speaker. Participants can connect with researchers through a scientist 'speed dating' session to discover upcoming research projects.

Launched in February 2024, the CLLMM Research Centre has several research projects in the pipeline and pilot projects are currently underway. 

The science discovery day will provide the opportunity to learn about these projects directly from the researchers and understand their significance to the CLLMM region.

Dr Nick Whiterod, Research Program Manager at the CLLMM Research Centre, is thrilled about the forum and community involvement.

The forum will be held at Level 1, 92-94 Barrage Road, Goolwa, on Saturday15 June. 

The whole community is welcome to attend, but registration is a must as places for each session are limited. 

The Research Centre serves as a regionally based research collaboration, facilitating increased involvement of First Nations and the community in the design, delivery, and dissemination of knowledge to inform decision-making in the region.
