A fair day for valentines

Knights and ladies, pages, merchants and serfs will celebrate Valentines Day Middle Ages-style at a community feast on Friday 14 February.

Dubbed a ‘community celebration of love’, the Fleurieu Medieval Association will host its Medieval Fair in the gardens on Burke Street, Victor Harbor from 5.30 to 9pm.

Entry is free and medieval costume is optional, but take a plate of goodies to add to a shared long table dinner.

Talented musician Maggie O’Moore will entertain the throng and there will be hand-tying ceremonies, vows, henna, face painting and medieval games to enjoy.

The Fleurieu Medieval Association hopes to host a two-day Medieval Festival in the spring to showcase medieval arts and culture on the south coast.

It will provide a weekend of history, re-enactments, role-play, music, dance, food and markets for enthusiasts and the community at large.
