The Middleton community is celebrating installation of a wave bench seat for locals and visitors to watch surfers. 

The bench was funded from the best dressed town’s winnings from last year’s Tour Down Under, along with additional contributions from the Middleton Town & Foreshore Association.

It was crafted by local artisan Chris Murphy from Blue Temper Ironworks, who also created the wave sculpture at Middleton Point. 

The bench provides a very practical addition to the town’s array of public art, which includes a surfer sculpture, the metal cow and several murals that add colour and movement to the south coast.

Middleton was named overall Gold winner of the Santos Best Dressed Town in the 2024 Tour Down Under.
