A vision of France on the south coast

The Alliance Française French Film Festival returns to Victor Harbor this week, with screenings at the Victa Cinema starting Thursday 4 April.

The cinema will present eight films over the week to 10 April, including one full day - Monday 8 April - dedicated to French Film Festival sessions.

It kicks off with a red carpet event, the Opening Night screening of The Three Musketeers – D’Artagnan, starring Victor Cassel, Romain Duris and Eva Green.

Historical drama, contemporary comedy and documentaries feature in the festival, with all films presented in French with English subtitles.

They include A Difficult Year; All Your Faces; Abbe Pierre: A Century of Devotion; Mr. Blake at Your Service; Iris and the Men; Jeanne du Barry; and Suddenly.

Artistic Director Karine Mauris is the Cultural Attachée of the French Embassy and is in her final year of four curating the festival.

“For over three decades, we've showcased the finest in French cinema, known for its profound simplicity and relatable humanity,” she says.

“Our stories reflect struggles, triumphs, passion, and possess an extraordinary ability to touch hearts.”

For full details of the films and to book tickets, go to the Victa Cinema website.
