The whale season is set to start on a high note with a family-friendly whale expo, traditional whale welcoming ceremony, whale tail art workshop, whale spotter training and whale science talk.
Celebrate the beginning of the season on the Fleurieu Peninsula by getting involved with the City of Victor Harbor’s week-long WhaleFest.
The unique WhaleFest events will encourage the community to get involved with a range of informative, engaging and entertaining whale-related activities.
The festival will run from 30 May - 6 June, starting with a Welcoming of the Whales and Smoking Ceremony on Sunday 30 May.
It will be held at 9am in the Amphitheatre next to Soldiers Memorial Gardens, Flinders Parade and will be followed by the WhaleFest Expo from 10am to 4pm, in the Railway Plaza.
On Thursday 3 June there will be a Whale Science Talk at the Victa Cinema from 7pm to 9pm.
A Paint and Sip Art Workshop will be held on Sunday 6 June in the Coral Street Art Space - 10 Coral Street - at 2pm.
All week anyone can take the Self-Guided Whale Art Trail, with printed copies available from the Coral Street Art Space.
