Zest Theatre Group will present Heathers the Musical at the Victor Harbor Town Hall, starting 31 January.

Based on the 1989 film, this Musical takes an unflinching look at the joy and anguish of high school.

Archetypal ‘mean girls’, the three Heathers rule at Westerberg High School. When Veronica Sawyer hustles her way into the teenage power trifecta she discovers being popular isn't all that it seems.

Everything changes when a stranger, JD, plans to put the Heathers in their place — six feet under.

Mother and daughter directors Terry Mountstephen and Peta Bowey promise to take the audience on an emotional roller coaster.

“Zest is ready to do Heathers, I’m just not sure Victor is ready for Heathers,” Terry says.

The show contains coarse language and sexual references and deals with issues like suicide, bullying and murder.

Heathers will have you laughing and crying as it explores the relationships between friends, lovers, parents, and school communities.

Zest is a community based, not-for-profit group founded ten years ago to encourage and nurture new talent.

Isobel Pitt, who plays Heather Chandler, has just been accepted into the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Tia Stevenson and Matilda Boysen play her fellow Heathers, McNamara and Duke.

Lily van Rhoda plays Veronica and Harrison Golledge plays JD. Natalie Stevenson choreographed the show, while Aria Stevenson is musical director.

There will be six performances of Heathers the Musical at the Victor Harbor Town Hall, 10-12 Coral Street.

The show starts at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday 31 January and 1, 7 and 8 February at 7.30pm and at 2pm on Sunday 2 and 9 February.

Tickets are available from the RAA in Ocean Street or online - $20 for adults, $17 concession and $15 for children under 12.
