The George T Fisher Playground, on the foreshore at Victor Harbor, is ready for an onslaught of play with stage 2 of its redevelopment complete.

The Victor Harbor council says local children are giving the play area two thumbs up as they enjoy an interactive, sensory play experience within a dynamic, family-friendly setting.

Some of the new playground features that were added as part of the Stage 2 works include a 1.5-metre-high blue mound with slides, a timber climbing wall, and a tunnel.

Coastal themed structures have been installed around the park, including a penguin egg sculpture underneath the rock mound and fish-shaped hand grips on the play equipment.

Additional seating has been incorporated within the play space to offer a comfortable spot for parents and carers observing children on the playground.

This redevelopment project was the first time the playground had received an upgrade since 2002.

The City of Victor Harbor secured $220,000 through the state government’s Open Space Grant Program to assist with the cost of construction for Stage 1 in 2019 and a further $100,000 towards Stage 2 in 2021.
