Alexandra & Eastern Hills (AEHCA) has won the H.R Meyer Shield after defeating Great Southern (GSCA) by 152 runs in the Grand Final played at Kingscote today. The win was set up by an excellent century from Hahndorf opening batsman Ty Watson, who top scored with 147 not out from 145 balls (16 x 4’s, 4 x 6’s), as AEHCA posted 5/268 from their 45 overs. Watson was involved in a key partnership with Tom Fiebiger worth 167 runs for the second wicket before Fiebiger was dismissed for 72 (82 balls). Tanner King chipped in with a handy 24 (25), while Blake Bailey took 4/58 (8) for Great Southern.
The Great Southern run chase started in disastrous fashion as they slumped to 4/8 with Alexandra & Eastern Hills opening bowler Caleb Walker snaring 3/8 from his seven-over opening spell. Sunny Osmont (30), Sean Williams (27) and Liam Harris (21) added some respectability to the scoreboard, but ultimately Great Southern were bowled out for 116 in the 34th over. Sam Graeber (3/43) and Matthew Harris (2/27) were the other multiple wicket takers for Alexandra & Eastern Hills.
