At 8:15 this morning CFS crews were alerted to a fire at a residential property on Butterworth Road at Aldinga Beach.

Thirty firefighters on four trucks and two Bulk Water Carriers arrived to find thick black smoke emanating from a carport adjacent to a two-storey home.

Crews managed to quickly contain the fire and stopped it from spreading to neighbouring properties. The house was also saved and only received smoke damage to the upstairs level.

Fire Cause Investigators are on the scene and initial reports have estimated the damage bill at $150,000.
