The Aldinga COVID-19 clinic is reportedly turning people away this morning due to the number of people already waiting in line at the site.
ABC Radio Adelaide took a call from a listener at 10am who said she had driven from Kangarilla to Aldinga to be tested but was told by staff at the site that they were already full for the rest of the day.
Several people are commenting on the McLaren Vale Facebook community page that they have also been turned away from the site.
The clinic stayed open until 6pm yesterday to try and cope with the demand.
Jeremy Wohling, 37, of Christie Downs, attended the drive-through testing site on Monday, waiting for two and a half hours in his car.
"The lineup was crazy,” he said, “When we have previously used the clinic to have our kids tested earlier in the pandemic it was in and out and took no time at all.”
“I wasn't expecting to have to have the whole morning off work but it's good people are getting the message and getting tested. “
Other testing locations in the area include the walk-in clinic next to South Coast Hospital at Victor Harbor and the drive-through clinic on Beach Road at Christies Beach. Both are also experiencing heavy demand and may also have significant wait times.
Other options include :
- contacting your GP about getting tested.
- Using the private drive-through Clinpath clinic at 234 Honeypot Road, Huntfield Heights (the need for a referral has been removed).
SA Health have asked that people please be patient with staff who are working hard to organise logistics and collect samples.
They advise to be prepared for delays by bringing water and snacks with you.
