Alexandra & Eastern Hills Cricket Association to face off with Hills Cricket Association in Meyer Shield Final

The annual Harry Meyer Shield is being hosted this year by the Great Southern Cricket Association (GSCA) and features six teams from throughout the Fleurieu & Districts Zone. The minor round fixtures were played on the weekend with reigning champions Alexandra & Eastern Hills Cricket Association (AEHCA) and Hills Cricket Association (HCA) set to face off in the final on Australia Day (Thursday 26 January) at Encounter Bay. The other associations competing were Murray Towns Cricket Association (MTCA), Torrens Valley Cricket Association (TVCA), and Kangaroo Island Cricket Association (KICA). 


AEHCA advanced to the final with a 93-run victory over Murray Towns on Saturday, followed by a five-wicket victory against Torrens Valley yesterday. HCA had a tight, three-wicket win against Great Southern at Mount Compass on Saturday, before easily accounting for Kangaroo Island by 135 runs at Encounter Bay yesterday.


Zach Trethewey (KICA) was the leading run scorer on the weekend with 136 runs. Next best were Haydn Reid (HCA - 98 runs), and Sam Hoffmann (GSCA - 92 runs). The leading wicket takers were Jack Roesler (TVCA - 5 wickets), Steve Featherstone (HCA - 5 wickets), and Troy Blackwell (AEHCA - 5 wickets).
