Alexandrina announces community grants

Alexandrina Council has announced the successful recipients of its latest rounds of Business Initiatives Grants, Community Environment Grants and Community Wellbeing Grants.

It has allocated more than $60,000 to assist 26 local businesses, clubs, and organisations.

Alexandrina Council Chief Executive Officer Nigel Morris says that every year the council distributes financial and in-kind support to the community through its Grants Program, which provides assistance for a range of projects and activities that build up the community.

“These grants generate economic development benefits, they help community groups preserve biodiversity, and they assist organisations with programs to increase well- being across the community.

“The Business Initiatives Grants aim to assist small businesses to increase their online presence and build their digital capability to stay competitive.

“The Community Environment Grants support community-led projects to generate environmental or sustainability benefits within our district.

“The Community Wellbeing Grants seek to help achieve an active and healthy community, a connected and inclusive community or work towards improving our community places and spaces that provide opportunities for social and cultural interaction.

“Council received 38 grant applications across the three categories and the 27 submissions from 26 groups recommended by the grant assessment panels for final endorsement were unanimously supported by Council.”
