Alexandrina honours its citizens

Alexandrina Council has named its citizens and events of the year, which will be celebrated on Australia Day, Wednesday 26 January.


The Strathalbyn Citizen of the Year is Mary Wilson and the Young Citizen of the Year is James Leigh.


The award for Active Citizenship goes to Gilbert’s Motor Museum and the Mayor’s Community Service Award will be awarded to Keith Turner.


The Community Event of the Year is the Strathalbyn Bands Festival. 

The Goolwa Citizen of the Year is Alan Williams and the Young Citizen of the Year is Rory Tyrrell.


The award for Active Citizenship goes to Jane McHugh and the Mayor’s Community Service Award will be awarded to Todd Treacy.


The Community Event of the Year is the Southern Surf Festival. 


Award presentations will made at the Australia Day celebrations at Soldiers Memorial Gardens in Strathalbyn from 9am and at Centenary Hall in Goolwa from 11am.
