The region’s next generation of leaders have the chance to get involved with a new leadership camp launching next year.
Applications are now open to those aged 14-16 living on the Fleurieu Peninsula to attend the three-day, two-night camp at Douglas Scrub, Blewitt Springs, from 20-22 March 2020.
The Fleurieu Youth Leaders Program (FLYP) runs the event, under the auspices of the McLaren Vale Business Association.
Twenty teenagers will be selected to participate in the camp. They will be supported by experienced role models and mentors and encouraged to participate in a range of activities including motivational workshops, live music, and outdoor adventures run by the qualified professionals from Adventure Systems.
Throughout the camp, participants will be encouraged to explore their personal potential and think beyond themselves, to their community. They will experience activities and situations that provide an opportunity to frame and develop their leadership philosophies, understand the value of teamwork and be inspired to become ambassadors for their community. This may be at school, in their local sporting club or part-time workplace.
The cost per participant is $50. Costs have been subsidised through sponsorship from local residents and businesses.
To apply, aspiring participants can fill in an application form with information including why the course would be good for them, what they hope to get out of it, a list of personal interests and what leadership means to them.
For application forms and more information, visit the FLYP Facebook page or contact 0414 190 040 or [email protected]
Applications close 13 December.
