A man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to evade police during a patrol at Christie Downs early this morning.

At about 12.30am on Thursday, March 5, patrol officers conducting mobile patrols observed a man riding a modified e-bike without a rear light while travelling north on Morton Road.

Police allege the rider accelerated while turning a corner, before losing control and crashing. He then attempted to flee on foot.

Officers caught the man a short distance away. During a search, police allegedly located a knife, knuckle dusters and a small quantity of drugs.

The rider, a 30-year-old man from Noarlunga Downs, was arrested and charged with weapon offences and drug possession.

He was granted police bail and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
