Nostalgia and longing inform an art exhibition that opens tomorrow, Saturday 7 August at Sauerbier House in Port Noarlunga.

The Welsh term hiraeth has no direct English translation but refers to a longing or homesickness for a place you cannot return to or one that never was.

It is associated with the bitter sweet memory of missing something or someone while being grateful for their existence.

This exhibition draws on the domestic and agricultural history of Sauerbier House, touching on nostalgia for times and places that are entwined within the collective memory.

Hiraeth features the work of artists Amber Cronin and Georgia Button and runs until 18 September.

Curator Suzanne Close received the SALA/City of Onkaparinga Contemporary Curator Award for 2020.

Leigh Robb, Curator of Contemporary Art AGSA, will officially launch the exhibition next Saturday 14 August at 2pm.

The event has been sponsored by Hugo Wines and will feature the artists and curator in conversation and a live performance by Emma Borgas. Bookings are essential due to capacity restrictions, via TryBooking.
