Whether it is Australia Day or Survival Day, Friday 26 January will see celebrations and commemorations across the nation and the region.
Here is a taste of what is on offer on the Fleurieu and KI:
Goolwa
Alexandrina Council’s Australia Day Awards presentation and Citizenship Ceremony will be held at Centenary Hall, starting at 11am.
Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island Council will host its Australia Day ceremony at Hope Cottage Museum from 10am to 11am, followed by a morning tea.
Winners of the Citizen, Event and Community Project of the Year Awards will be formally recognised and receive certificates commemorating their service and achievements.
Noarlunga
Australia Day free breakfast at Noarlunga Centre, Ramsay Place, from 8am to 11am.
A Family Fair and fireworks will be held at South Adelaide Football Club from 5.30pm to 9.30pm.
Normanville
The District Council of Yankalilla will again hold an Australia Day event at the Village Green, Normanville, starting at 9am.
Mayor Darryl Houston will preside over Australia Day awards; presentation of certificates to community grants winners; and a Citizenship ceremony to welcome new citizens to the community.
Australia Day Ambassador Peter Goers OAM will speak and Yankailla Lions Club will provide the traditional sausage sizzle for a gold coin donation.
Strathalbyn
An Australia Day Breakfast and Citizenship Awards presentation will be held at the Soldier’s Memorial Gardens, near the rotunda, starting at 7.30am.
Rotary Club of Strathalbyn will supply breakfast for purchase; the official proceedings start at 9am.
Victor Harbor
The City of Victor Harbor will host Australia Day celebrations at Soldiers Memorial Garden with a free barbecue breakfast at 8am.
A formal ceremony starts at 9am, with Welcome to Country by Cedric Varco; entertainment from the Victor Harbor City Band and Rebecca Gagliardi; a Citizenship Ceremony; and presentation of Citizen of the Year Awards.
Willunga
Willunga Lions Club will host a free public Australia Day breakfast from 8am at Centennial Park
