Australia Day activities across the Fleurieu are hit and miss in 2022 as some will go ahead as planned on 26 January and others have been cancelled due to COVID.
Alexandrina Council citizenship ceremonies and awards will go ahead, with community breakfasts at both Strathalbyn and Goolwa.
Breakfast will be available for purchase in Strathalbyn’s Soldiers Memorial Gardens from 7.30am, with formalities from 9am. Chairs and picnic rugs are welcome.
Centenary Hall is the venue for citizenship ceremonies and awards in Goolwa from 11am, with breakfast available for purchase at the Goolwa Bowling Club from 8am.
Onkaparinga Council has cancelled its Australia Day breakfast events, which had been due to take place from 8am to 11am at Aldinga Beach, Willunga, Noarlunga and Happy Valley.
The Rotary Club of McLaren Vale has also cancelled it’s planned breakfast, but Moana Surf Life Saving Club will hold Australia Day celebrations.
Its café will be open from 8am and the bar from 12noon to 5pm, with a barbecue from 1pm to 3pm and live music by Garry Stillwell from 1pm to 4pm.
The City of Victor Harbor’s annual Australia Day celebrations will be held at the Horse Tram Barn on Railway Terrace, with a free breakfast at 8am.
The formal citizenship and awards ceremony starts at 9am, including a smoking ceremony and live music.
Masks are required to be worn at all times except when eating or drinking.
The District Council of Yankalilla will again hold a COVID-safe Australia Day event at Yankalilla Memorial Park Oval from 9am.
It will include breakfast, citizen awards and community grant certificates; Residents need only take a picnic rug or chair.
