The Friends of Nangawooka Flora Reserve will hold its bi-annual open day tomorrow, Sunday 16 April.
Held in conjunction with the Australian Plant Society (Fleurieu Group) the flora reserve will be open from 10am to 4pm.
There will be morning and afternoon tea on sale and an 'all day' sausage sizzle; a bonus of this season's open day is wine tasting.
Native plant growers will sell a wide range of plants and will be happy to give advice on planting and maintaining a native garden. A free soil testing service will also be offered.
Entry is by gold coin donation, which goes towards the continued planting of the reserve and plant labelling.
Maintained by volunteers, Nangawooka is a 5-acre reserve North of Victor Harbor on the corner of Waterport Road and the Adelaide - Victor Harbor Road.
It was started in 1982 and plantings range from WA species at the Northern end of the reserve to a mix of general native species in the centre and species specific to the Fleurieu Peninsula nearer the Southern entrance.
At this time of year Hakeas, Banksias and Correas are flowering, with Acacias scenting the air and putting on a display and Grevilleas in bud.
