Yankalilla’s only remaining bank branch will close its doors permanently at 1pm Friday 9 December.
In a letter sent to customers this week, Bank SA Regional General Manager Adrian Carpenter says the Main Street branch closure is due to a significant increase in the use of online and mobile banking over the past few years.
The letter directs Bank SA customers to the branch at Victor Harbor which will remain open.
The Yankalilla branch was reduced to opening part-time hours from January 2020, with the bank saying at that time that less than 14 per cent of its local customers used face-to-face transactions.
The ANZ Bank closed its Yankalilla branch in May of the same year.
Bank SA closed its Goolwa branch in July this year and its Mount Compass branch in 2016.
