Country star Beccy Cole and three other well-known Australian acts will perform at Arvo on the Oval at Willunga, a Covid-safe event being run by Fleurieu Folk Festival’s organisers.

The event is running as an alternative to the usual festival, which was cancelled this year because of Covid-19 restrictions. 

Arvo on the Oval on Saturday 24 October will be an afternoon-evening concert at Willunga Recreation Park.

Beccy Cole will be joined by jazz and cabaret performer - and Beccy’s wife - Libby O’Donovan, South Australian country singer-songwriter Amber Joy Poulton, and local blues guitar legend Chris Finnen.

Organisers are touting it as a Covid-safe event, with tickets to be sold only online (not at the gate) to enable contact tracing, and a ‘goodie bag’ containing a mask, sanitiser and a program to be given to each ticket holder at the gate.

Only 400 tickets will be available, with just 300 remaining, according to the festival website. 

The event will be entirely alcohol-free, meaning no bring your own or alcohol sales. However, according to the organisers, “who needs alcohol when such a fabulous program is on offer?”

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs, rugs and cushions, and there will be food and soft drinks available for purchase.

At the event, the annual Judith Crossley Memorial Songwriting Award winner will be announced and their song performed in public for the first time.

The Peter Thornton Memorial Award for a young emerging artists will also be presented by the Thornton family.

Gates will open at 1pm and the event will run from 2pm-7pm.

Tickets cost $60 for adults and $50 for concession holders and children aged 3-15. They can be purchased through Oztix here.
