The RSPCA needs your unwanted towels, flat sheets, bathmats and dog beds to cope with an influx of homeless dogs to their shelters.
Many of the dogs are not unwanted but, heartbreakingly, have to be given up by their owners who are unable to find a pet-friendly rental.
If you can help, please drop the bedding items into the RSPCA Op Shop in Ocean Street in Victor Harbor or to the RSPCA shelter in Meyer Road in Lonsdale.
The animal welfare charity says the number of dogs and other animals being relinquished because of the rental crisis is staggering.
They want the state government to follow Victoria’s lead and make it illegal for landlords to discriminate on the basis of pet ownership.
If you are able to open your home to one of these pets, the RSPCA has reduced their dog adoption fees to $150 for this week only.
As they say, a small price to pay for a whole lot of love and companionship.
