Victor Harbor council has begun upgrading three beach access points in Hayborough.
They include replacement stairs next to the Investigator Carpark and Alexander Street to ensure safe community access to the shore.
The council says the new stairs have been engineered to better withstand erosion, high tides and future storm surges.
It advises that beach access points may be temporarily unavailable while works are underway.
The council says it expects all work will be complete by June, depending on tide and wave action.
