Music lovers on the Fleurieu will be spoilt with major acts heading to the region in November to play at two events at wineries across one bumper weekend.
Some big names in the Australian music scene including Amy Shark, John Butler and Missy Higgins will perform at Lake Breeze, Langhorne Creek, for Handpicked Festival on Saturday, 9 November.
The following day, Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas headlines A Day on the Green alongside Aussie talent such as Pete Murray and Russell Morris at Leconfield Wines, McLaren Vale, on Sunday, 10 November.
It’s going to be a massive weekend of live music and a few cheeky wines on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula: the only questions left to answer are which events to attend, and of course, who’s driving?
Handpicked Festival
This boutique festival, run by the wine-making Follett family, is turning heads with some powerhouse acts announced for this year.
Indie pop sensation Amy Shark is set to captivate fans with her sleek, synth-pop sounds.
With a career spanning more than two decades in the music industry and four platinum albums under his belt, John Butler will get the crowd on its feet when he takes to the stage (sans his trio).
Nine-time ARIA award winner Missy Higgins will cast a spell with her irresistible melodies from award-winning albums The Sound of White, On a Clear Night, The Ol Razzle Dazzle, Oz and new album, Solastalgia.
Sydney-based singer-songwriter Odette will share emotive and heartfelt tunes from her highly-acclaimed debut album To A Stranger.
Melbourne soul and blues masters The Teskey Brothers, Sydney-based funk and hip hop outfit Winston Surfshirt, Byron Bay singer song-writer Kyle Lionhart, and local SA act Jess Day round out the impressive lineup.
With a relaxed vibe, boho fashions, picnic rugs and plenty of regional food and wine, Handpicked Festival 2019 is set to delight.
Camping is available in the Tent City, now extended to accommodate up to 1500 campers at $15 per person, with some ‘glamping’ available.
18 AUGUST UPDATE: Tickets have now sold out! Organisers are warning those still looking for tickets to only buy through official sources. Visit www.handpickedfestival.com or follow the Facebook page for updates.
A Day on the Green
Roundhouse Entertainment, in conjunction with Live Nation, is excited to announce Rob Thomas’ welcome return to South Australia, performing at A Day on the Green at McLaren Vale.
Last in South Australia to headline the 2016 Adelaide 500 Post-Race concert to an audience of more than 30,000 people, Rob Thomas also headlined a sold-out Leconfield Wines concert in February 2010.
Rob is described as one of the most distinctive artists of this or any other era – a gifted vocalist, spell-binding performer and an acclaimed songwriter known worldwide as the lead singer and primary composer with Matchbox Twenty, as well as for his multi-platinum solo work and chart-topping collaborations. As a songwriter and collaborator, Thomas has racked up global sales of more than 80 million records.
Among his numerous hits are solo classics like This Is How A Heart Breaks and Matchbox Twenty favourites Push, 3AM, If You’re Gone, How Far We’ve Come and Bent, as well as Smooth, his worldwide smash hit Santana collaboration. Smooth celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and last year the single was ranked as the second most successful song of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2017, the Grammy award-winning hit was named by APRA as the second-most played song on Australian radio in the last 25 years.
Fans can expect a dynamic show of huge hits and favourites plucked from the hugely successful solo artist and Matchbox Twenty frontman’s 30+ year career, as well as a tasting of new tracks lifted from his new album Chip Tooth Smile.
Joining Rob at Leconfield Wines will be one of Australia’s most-loved musicians, Pete Murray; ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Russell Morris; and making her debut appearance at A Day on the Green, Emily Wurramara, a proud Indigenous performer who sings with heart and honesty in both English and her traditional language, Anindilyakwa.
A Day on the Green tickets are now on sale via Ticketmaster.
