Big finals series ahead in the Women's comp in the Southern Football League

Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill warmed up for their finals campaign with a 35-point win against Port Noarlunga during round 16 action in the Southern Football League Women’s ‘A’ grade competition on Saturday. The Falcons only led by six points at the last change and an upset was a distinct possibility. However, it wasn't to be as ‘Flaggies’ showed their class in the last quarter to kick four goals to none to win 6.11 (47) to 2.0 (12). Carli Morton kicked two goals for the Falcons, while Tyla Pyman and Sheridan Poland kicked ‘Porties’ two goals. Flagstaff Hill skipper Tamsyn Morriss was named best on ground and she was well supported by Shaylee Dayman, Chloe Meyers, Ebony Scanlan, Tiana Lush and Elizabeth Johnson. Best for the Cockle Divers were Ella Slape, Nikki Parker, Elisha Scriven, Danielle Hansen and Bree Chapman.


Cove Cobras finished their season on a high note with a nail-biting three-point win against Aldinga. The final scores were Cove 3.8 (26) to Aldinga 3.5 (23). Jasmine Dietrich, Kate Galley and Alesia LeDuff were the goalkickers for the Cobras. Dakota Oniszk kicked two majors for Aldinga and Kimberly Robinson kicked the other goal for the Sharks. Best players for the Cobras were Tamara Harrison, Dana O’Brien, Ashleigh Need, Lauren Kenny and Galley. The Sharks best were Robinson, Elena Earl, Amy Neville, Eilish O’Hanlon and Kiara Lovett.


Christies Beach will enter Sunday’s finals series with a spring in their step after defeating Hackham in their final minor round match by 131 points at Bice Oval on Sunday. The Saints led by 48 points at halftime, before kicking a further 13 goals to none in the second half to win 19.17 (131) to 0.0 (0). Emily Risitano kicked seven goals for the Saints to give her 23 goals for the season. Best players for ‘Christies’ were Melanie Koster, Risitano, Paige Simmons, Hannah Clarke, Maddison Wilson-Niessen and Daisy Crowe. Best players for the Hawks were Caitlin Haire, Hannah Long-Scafidi, Kaylah Richards, Alice Worrall, Jessica Sherry and Ashleigh Dayman.
