Image from Facebook.Milang and District Community Association has successfully secured $100,000 in grant funding from Impact100 South Australia to renovate the Milang Youth Hub.
The grant was announced at the annual Impact100 awards night on 29 October.
Alexandrina Council and Reclink Australia supported the bid with grant writing and presentations to gain the funding to upgrade the Hub building's upper level, making it a better space for art, movie nights and quieter activities.
The council has congratulated the Association, saying this funding will make a significant difference for the Hub program and enable it to accommodate the growing group.
The Hub is a safe space for young people to hang out, try new activities and have fun.
It meets weekly on Fridays during the school term with up to 30 young people attending each session.
Impact100 SA is a sub-fund of the Australian Communities Foundation that is a giving circle of people who each donate $1,000 annually.
Their contributions are pooled to make high-impact grants to South Australian-based charities that are collectively voted by members.
