The multi-million dollar redevelopment of the Normanville Foreshore will go to community consultation after the District Council of Yankalilla endorsed the draft plan at its December meeting.
Council committed to funding a third of the $3,500,000 cost of rebuilding the Normanville Surf Life Saving Club.
It also committed to allocating up to $1,600,000 for the rebuilding of the Normanville Café/Kiosk in a combined build with the surf club.
The design brief will be given to Oxigen, the architects guiding the Victor Harbor Main Street redevelopment.
Council will apply for infrastructure grants to fund the remainder of the project, which includes upgrading the Jetty Caravan Park.
The draft plan is set to create more car parking in the Normanville Basin and requires removal of dunes to allow rear access to the surf club and kiosk.
Council specified the tender for the combined rebuild must cause as little disruption as possible to kiosk operation.
Several people addressed the council meeting on the plan, including Deputy Premier Vickie Chapman via zoom, in her capacity as Minister for Planning and Local Government.
Councillor Davina Quirke moved to delay consideration of the plan, saying there was insufficient information to make a decision, but her motion was lost by seven votes to two.
Community consultation will take place over summer, with a report to go to the February council meeting.
