There will be cake when Willunga Farmers’ Market celebrates its 20th anniversary tomorrow, 19 February at its regular Saturday market.
COVID has posed many challenges for the market over the last two years, including making a move to Willunga High School, but strict application of COVID-safe measures has seen the local icon survive and thrive.
The celebrations will include cooking demonstrations at 8.30am with Chef Steele and at 10.30am with Karena Armstrong and Jordan Theodoros.
The cake cutting ceremony will take place at 10am.
Applications are open for the market’s Farmers scholarship for 2022.
The $15,000 scholarship, offered in partnership with the Landscape South Australia Hills & Fleurieu Board, is open to those interested in farming but discouraged by the obstacles of entering the industry.
The deadline for applications is 31 March, with interviews taking place in April and the winner announced in May.
Full details can be found on the Willunga Farmers’ Market website.
The Willunga Farmers’ Market operates at the Willunga High School every Saturday from 8am to 12 noon.
