There will be delays at the Bluff boat ramp from today, Monday 28 November as the City of Victor Harbor begins repair works.
The council will install 12 new channel markers at the boat ramp in a project that will take up to three weeks.
It says the existing channel markers have been subject to ongoing damage and need to be replaced.
A specialist maritime contractor will use a barge to progressively remove and replace the channel markers.
“The contractor will intermittently use the boat ramp and southern boat ramp lane to access their vehicles and obtain equipment.
“When required, a safety boat will be in attendance to guide public vessels around the works area.”
The boat ramp will stay open while the markers are replaced, but the council has warned boat ramp users to expect delays.
“Please plan ahead and allow extra time when using the boat ramp and channel. You can check live boat ramp conditions at any time by viewing our live webcam.”
The council says the project will provide a safer environment for the boating community ahead of the peak summer period, and will also reduce long-term maintenance costs.
The design, construction and replacement of the 12 channel markers has been supported by funding from Primary Industries and Regional Development.
