In fantastic news for Strathalbyn residents, Alexandrina Council has secured $3.85 million grant funding from the state government’s Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program, which will assist the completion of all eight stages of the revitalisation project. 

Alexandrina Council and the Strathalbyn community are committed to revitalising the Town Centre and have worked together to develop an integrated Master Plan with eight distinct stages. 

A council spokesperson says they are thrilled with the announcement from state government, to see the continuation of works for this multi-staged project. 

“It will continue to create jobs, build the local economy and capitalise on the Fleurieu Peninsula region's flourishing tourism industry.” 

Alexandrina Council CEO Glenn Rappensberg notes that the completion of the project will see great economic and social benefits from an estimated $10 million total project investment. 

“The completion of the Strathalbyn Town Centre Revitalisation Project will strengthen and support the region to grow and prosper and aligns with our A2040 community vision and ‘Plan to Thrive’,” he says. 

With Stages one and two underway, the further $7.7 million investment incorporates $3.85M from the Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program and the council’s $3.85M contribution to complete the remaining stages including: 

Stage 3 - Upgrade High Street Precinct.

Stage 4 - Upgrade Dawson Street Precinct 

Stage 5 - Upgrade Swale Street Link

Stage 6 - Upgrade Albyn Terrace Precinct 

Stage 7 – Create Town Centre Tourism Parking 

Stage 8 - Upgrade of the Strathalbyn Town Hall. 

Mayor Keith Parkes is thankful for the generous contribution from the State Government.
