The Goolwa Coastcare Group is calling on volunteers and community members to join a vital planting event aimed at enhancing the natural beauty and biodiversity of Boult Reserve. The event, July 21, scheduled to kick off at 9 a.m., will see hundreds of native rushes, sedges, grasses, and ground covers planted to improve the area and support declining butterfly and bird populations.
Participants are invited to gather at the reserve, easily identifiable by the Goolwa Coastcare Sandwich board sign. The day's activities will be followed by a complimentary lunch, ensuring volunteers are well-fed after their efforts. To aid in catering, attendees are asked to RSVP as soon as possible.
This significant initiative is supported and approved by the Alexandrina Council and the Second Nature Conservancy. It focuses on planting 2,000 low-growing native flora seedlings, each protected by biodegradable tree guards. The planting will mainly target the site's periphery, fostering an ephemeral wetland environment.
Boult Reserve, bordered by Reed Place, Boult Street, Keightly Road, and the Boundary of Tokuremoar Reserve, is an Alexandrina Council Reserve. The project is funded by contributions from the DIT Amenity Offset Fund, reflecting a collaborative effort to enhance local green spaces and support wildlife.
Join the Goolwa Coastcare Group in this community effort to make a tangible difference in the local environment. Your participation will help create a thriving habitat for butterflies and birds, benefiting the ecosystem and enhancing the area's natural charm.
