The playground in Goolwa’s Bristow Smith Reserve will be partially closed for maintenance during the first week in March.
Alexandrina Council opened the popular nature play space in 2016; it features a 10-metre long restored wooden fishing boat, Parkour elements, water play with a creek bed, sensory wall, climbing nets, basket swings and stepping logs.
There is also an upgraded beach area on the banks of the River Murray, barbecues and shelters.
The 1911 MV Premier was donated for the play space and almost a decade of weathering has left the boat in need of attention.
Council contractors will spend the week from Monday 3 March to Friday 7 March sanding and oiling the old fishing vessel.
Weather permitting, the boat play area will be reopened to the public for the following weekend.
The remaining areas in the playground will be open during the maintenance works.
