Building Better Regions funds Fleurieu projectsThe SA Olive Festival is a beneficiary of the latest round of BBRF grants.

Several community and infrastructure projects in the Mayo electorate have been awarded grants from the federal government’s Building Better Regions Fund.


Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Barnaby Joyce announced the newest projects to be funded under Round Five of the fund.


A total of 298 infrastructure and community projects around Australia will share in $300 million of funding to support a diverse array of interests and outcomes.


The Infrastructure Projects Stream awarded 197 projects to the value of $293.9 million.


Local projects and grants allocated were:

  • Blewitt Springs - Girl Guides New Style Accommodation at Tuckerway & Douglas - $147,612.
  • Kangaroo Island - Igniting Kingscote Through Art - $72,000
  • Milang - Restoration of Manager's Residence in Milang Lakeside Butter Factory - $400,000.
  • Myponga - Myponga Hall Restoration - $20,000.
  • Normanville - Construction of Visitor Accommodation - $2,045,450.
  • Rapid Bay - Construction of Rapid Bay Amenities - $210,000.
  • Victor Harbor - Horse Stable and VIP Centre Construction and Upgrade - $203,000.


The Community Investments Stream awarded 101 projects to the value of $6.1 million.


Local projects and grants allocated were: 

  • Strathalbyn - Profitable Farming, Healthy Communities Development Strategy - $20,000.
  • Tooperang - South Australian Olive Festival - $17,200.
  • Victor Harbor - Investment and Attraction Strategy Project - $20,000.
