Bulldogs bite in Hills Cricket

Meadows consolidated second spot on the Hills Cricket Association (HCA) ladder after a convincing nine-wicket victory over Scott Creek Ironbank (SCIB) at Cherry Gardens yesterday. SCIB could only manage a total of 135 before being bowled out in the 35th over. Ben Thomas (23), Zane Lewis (22 not out) and Darcy Campbell (22) were the leading run getters for the home side, while Oscar Tydeman (4/27) and Ryan Sawtell (3/34) led the way with the ball for Meadows. Tydeman got his side off to a fast start in the run chase with 30 (32 balls), before Rohan Reid and Luke Tonkin (32 not out) got their side past the target in just the 29th over. Reid finished with a quickfire 64 not out from 47 balls (8 x 4’s, 3 x 6’s). Lewis (1/24) was the sole wicket taker for SCIB.

Stirling maintained top spot after comfortably accounting for Uraidla by eight wickets at Uraidla after dismissing the home side for just 81 yesterday. No Uraidla batsman managed to pass 20 with Simon Parker top scoring with 18 (79 balls). James Richards was the star for the Eagles with figures of 5/28 (9), while acting captain Jack Pick snared 2/8 from a miserly nine-over spell. After losing a couple of wickets, Stirling cruised to victory in the 23rd over with Mitch Jude (28 not out) and Pick (23 not out) at the crease. Parker (1/20) and Felix Gadomski-Mott (1/22) were the wicket takers for Uraidla.

Aldgate moved two games clear of fifth spot after a high-scoring 21-run win over Mt Lofty at Aldgate yesterday. The Gaters batted first with Will Quigley-Smith continuing his excellent season with 78 (106 balls) and Pierce Cordes-Harvey (63 off 78) getting their side into a healthy position at 5/199 in the 41st over. Blake Lewis joined Luke Smet to add an incredible 76 runs from just 28 balls to lift Aldgate to 5/275 from their 45 overs. Smet made 33 not out (15 balls), while Lewis whacked five sixes and two fours on his way to 44 not out from 16 balls. Left-arm opening bowler Will Healey was the pick of the Redcaps bowlers with 3/32 (7). Mt Lofty kept up the six runs per over needed in the run chase with Nick Justice (65 off 81) and Josh Healey (59 off 38) putting their side in a good position at 2/178. Angus Bilsborow (3/63) and Max Bilsborow (2/48) brought their side back into the contest with the Redcaps needing 34 runs from the final five overs with four wickets still in hand. Ollie Clements was the sixth bowler used for Aldgate and his spell of 2/16 (4) sealed the game for his side with the final wicket taken in the 44th over with Mt Lofty all out for 254.
