Sensational seasonal celebrations begin on the Fleurieu today, Sunday 17 November, with the City of Onkaparinga Christmas Pageant.
Set yourself up along Beach Road, Christies Beach before 10am to watch the procession of marching bands, dance troupes, sporting clubs, community groups and businesses before Santa makes his appearance.
He will wave to the crowd as he travels towards Christmas in the Park, in Rotary Park, where the excitement continues with free live entertainment, children’s games, activities, market stalls and your chance to have a photo with Santa.
The McLaren Vale community Christmas parade will take place on Sunday 8 December from 6pm to 8.30pm. Enjoy the parade of colourful floats along Main Road McLaren Vale from Field Street to Valley View Drive, then join the Party in the Piazza with live music, Christmas carols, sausage sizzle, face-painter, ice-cream for the children, a visit from Santa and late trading by local traders.
This year’s Victor Harbor Christmas Pageant, presented by the Rotary Clubs of Encounter Bay & Victor Harbor, will be held on Saturday 14 December. The procession starts at 5.30pm from Bridge Terrace and makes its way along Ocean Street towards Warland Reserve, finishing around 7pm.
Community Carols will be held in the Grosvenor Gardens and will begin soon after completion of the pageant. Children will be able to meet Santa in the rotunda and there will be pop up food and market stalls around Coral Street and Grosvenor Gardens.
Goolwa’s annual community Christmas Festival will be on the following day, Sunday 15 December from 6pm. It will include the pageant along Cadell Street, children's entertainment, carols, a visit from Santa and fireworks.
On Tuesday 17 December the Port Elliot Town and Foreshore Association presents Carols in the Town Square, off The Strand in Port Elliot from 5pm.
On Kangaroo Island, the Drakes Advance Kingscote 2019 Christmas Pageant will be held on Friday 20 December.
The parade starts at 6pm, and there will be plenty of fun before hand including a treasure hunt, face painting and chalk art street drawing (there are prizes for the best chalk art drawing!)
Seasonal festivities conclude with the annual Normanville New Year's Eve Pageant, on Tuesday 31 December.
A parade of around 40 colourful floats will leave Katherine Drive at 7.30pm sharp, winding its way through the streets and ending at the beautiful Normanville foreshore at approximately 8pm.
Locals and tourists alike flock to the foreshore to be entertained by DJ Hazzman, amusements, and fed by the local community clubs and groups.
The night’s fun is finalised with a fireworks display at around 9.45pm.
