The Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management (NRM) Board has put out a call for coastal ambassadors and youth ambassadors to help conserve our stunning coastline.
A coastal ambassador is someone who has an interest in coast and marine conservation and wants to learn as much as they can about these environments.
Essentially they are community champions who willingly share knowledge within their community and actively participate in helping to protect and conserve the coast.
The coastal ambassador training and mentoring program is funded by the NRM levy. It offers a series of expert talks, workshops and field trips to support, educate and inspire individuals about coast and marine environments and what can be done to help conserve them.
The program is open to anyone living in the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges region - which encompasses the Fleurieu - and is free for participants.
The 20 people chosen go on interactive field trips such as supervised snorkelling and kayaking excursions and gain knowledge by experiencing these spectacular marine environments.
The course is free and comprises seven sessions and three field trips starting on Tuesday 14 January and ending on Tuesday 25 February.

The coastal youth ambassadors training program engages young champions, between 13 and 15 years old, to help conserve our coast.
It provides young adults with training, resources and guidance to increase their knowledge and build their capacity to help protect marine environments.
Workshops are run in conjunction with exciting field trips such as supervised snorkelling and kayaking. All activities will be held in the last week of the school holidays between Monday 20 January and Friday 24 January 2020.
This highly sought-after program also accepts only 20 people per workshop.
Applications close 5 January 2020.
