The City of Victor Harbor Youth program is looking for volunteers for its new Driving the Future program.
A lack of public transport options on the Fleurieu Peninsula means young people without a license are not connected to essential services and programs.
Driving the Future will support young people, aged between 16 and 25, to obtain their Provisional drivers’ license.
This will help them to access education and employment, boosting their health, wellbeing and development.
Everyone must accumulate 75 hours of driving experience before obtaining a provisional driver’s license.
Family members don’t always have the time – or the patience – for the task, so an independent supervisor can be a huge help.
Volunteers are not expected to be professional driving instructors, but to provide patient and empathetic support and supervision.
Cool, calm and collected people are asked to get involved in the program, due to start later in 2024.
Anyone interested can find out more on the City of Victor Harbor website.
