SA Police have appealed for information on the murder of Stanley Broadwood in McLaren Vale on Tuesday 9 June.
Police allege that 81-year-old Mr Broadwood died at the hands of his grandson, who is now in custody.
They want to trace the accused man’s movements in the hours leading up to the murder and the alleged attempted murder of the victim’s wife.
At a media conference held in McLaren Vale this morning, 17 June, DCI Scott Fitzgerald appealed to anyone who saw or spoke to the man, or who might have CCTV footage of his movements, to come forward.
He said police had been doorknocking homes and businesses along the main street of McLaren Vale to try to piece together the final hours before the murder took place at about 7pm.
The accused man was described as 185cm tall, with a heavy build and a fair complexion. He has short brown hair and a patchy beard and was wearing an olive polo shirt, black track pants and white sneakers.
DCI Fitzgerald reassured McLaren Vale residents that the tragic event of 9 June was an isolated incident and there was no suggestion of a risk to the community beyond what happened that night.
Anyone with information should contact Crimestoppers online, or on 1800 333 000.
