It will be an especially arty year in Goolwa in 2020, with a revamped Rotary Art and Photographic Exhibition to be held over Easter.
The formerly annual exhibition has become biennial – held every two years – with a consequent boost to awards and prize money.
Entries are now open and although they close 9 March, limited space means they may close early so it’s best for entrants to get in quick.
The show offers 25 prizes worth a total of $22,000, including the $10,000 acquisitive Alexandrina Art Prize and the $2,000 Goolwa Shopping Centre Photographic Prize.
Alexandrina council has doubled its sponsorship of the major prize from $5,000, in 2018 when the show was last held.
All will be on display at the Signal Point gallery from 4 to 18 April.
Exhibition chair Roger Shelden says he expects more than 3,000 visitors to attend the event.
“We have expanded the successful themed $1000 Art Award – Essence of Place - to include a $500 Photographic Award.
“This is a creative interpretation of the essential nature or reflection of Goolwa or the surrounding area.”
There are also prizes in both art and photography categories for entrants aged under 18 and a people’s choice award in each category.
