Photographers of the Fleurieu should get snapping because the South Australian Heritage Council wants you to enter the Heritage Snaps 2021 competition.
South Australian Heritage Council Chair Keith Conlon wants to see people included in this year’s entries, showing people out and about enjoying South Australian heritage sites.
The four categories in this year’s competition are:
1. Maritime and coastal Heritage (including photos of shipwrecks).
2. State Heritage places to visit.
3. Professional and edited.
4. Young Talent (open to school age entrants under the age of 18 as at 1 July 2021).
There are more than 2 300 State Heritage Places and 17 State Heritage Areas in South Australia and hundreds of these locations are located on the Fleurieu or Kangaroo Island.
You can search the heritage register by local council area for inspiration.
Some of the well-known local sites include the SA Heritage Register include the Goolwa wharf complex and the police station and courthouse, the Talisker mine remains in Deep Creek and the soon to be demolished Granite Island causeway. Last year’s winning photo of a moored Oscar W was taken by Colin Haigh at the Goolwa Wharf Complex.
Entries are limited to a maximum of three photographs in total. You can choose to enter three photos in one category or spread them out across multiple categories.
Entries close at midnight on Friday, 15 October 2021.
