Camping trial proposed for Encounter Bay

The City of Victor Harbor wants community feedback on a proposal to allow limited short-term camping at the Encounter Bay Recreation Ground.

A proposed 12-month trial is a response to a call for more low-cost camping options in the district.

The suggested arrangement would see the Encounter Bay Football Club responsible for managing campers at the Recreation Ground, located on community land at Armstrong Road.

If approved, limited camping for self-contained vehicles may only be available for a maximum stay of three days during peak periods such as school holidays, long weekends and major events.

Community feedback is invited on whether short-term, low-cost camping options are needed in the City of Victor Harbor and whether the Encounter Bay Recreation is an appropriate location for a trial.

There are some existing limited camp sites in the region, such as Bunny Beach Farm Stay in Back Valley.

The deadline for providing feedback is 5pm on Friday 14 July. For more information and to have a say, go to the council website.
