A car crashed into a fallen tree at Morphett Vale during the storm last night.

Emergency services responded to reports of a crash at States Road and Richards Road, Morphett Vale about 9.50pm on Monday 2 October.

A Nissan SUV crashed into a tree that had been brought down in the storm.  It had fallen onto powerlines and knocked out power and streetlights in the area.

Fortunately, the driver, a 20-year-old Onkaparinga Hills man, was not injured in the crash.

The SUV and tree were unable to be removed from the roadway as they were surrounded by powerlines.

The road remained blocked all night while crews from SES and SA Power Networks worked to remove the tree and restore the fallen powerlines.  The scene was cleared and reopened to traffic at 6am.

The SUV did not require a tow.
