Police are investigating a single car crash at Aldinga Beach.

Just after 8.45pm on Wednesday 5 January, police responded to reports of a collision between a car and a light pole at the roundabout at the intersection of Port Road and Main South Road, Aldinga Beach.

The car popped a tyre but continued to drive South along Main South Road and a short time later crashed into a ditch near the intersection of Norman Road, before catching alight. Fortunately the driver had not sustained serious injuries.

The alleged driver, a 38-year-old woman from Hindmarsh Valley, tested positive to drugs. The sample was sent for forensic analysis and her vehicle, which was extensively burned, was towed from the scene.

Local traffic police are investigating the crash.
