Services Australia’s mobile office will visit the Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island during August to provide Centrelink services to towns without them.
Independent MP for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie says she appreciates the federal government heeding her call to include locations in Mayo this month.
“I contacted Minister Shorten last month to call for Mobile Centrelink Service Centres to visit Mayo in their planned itinerary for July-August 2024, which originally contained no Mayo locations."
"The Mayo electorate covers an area of over 9,100 square kilometres, serviced by only two physical Services Australia Centres.
“I am often contacted by people who live in our regional and rural communities and have very limited access to public transport, making it difficult to access a Services Australia centre.
“They then experience difficulties when trying to contact Services Australia by phone or online. Mobile Centrelink Service Centres are invaluable to these communities."
The 'Kangaroo Paw II' Mobile Centrelink Service Centre will visit the following locations:
The team can assist with payments or services such as Centrelink, Medicare, Department of Veterans’ Affairs or the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Ms Sharkie has invited Mayo residents to contact her office if they need more information about precise times and locations of the Mobile Service Centres.
