The CFS has issued a warning to Festival of Cycling spectators ahead of Saturday’s McLaren Vale to Willunga stage.
Very hot and sunny conditions are expected, with temperatures of up to 39 degrees.
The CFS are asking people planning to watch the Santos Tour Down Under Festival of Cycling to take care when parking, to avoid sparking fires.
Hot cars in dry grass can cause a grass fire and conditions during the Festival will mean a small fire will become a large fire very quickly.
The fatal Wangary bushfire on the Eyre Peninsula in 2005 was found to have been accidentally sparked when a driver parked in dry grass on the roadside.
CFS crews from Strathalbyn, Asbourne and Langhorne Creek and aerial bombers attended and contained a fire in hilly terrain at Bull Creek Road, Ashbourne on Tuesday morning.
The CFS will release the fire danger ratings for Saturday on Friday afternoon.
