Christies Beach and Port Noarlunga top Southern Football Women's ladder

Christies Beach moved a step closer to wrapping up the all-important double chance after defeating Reynella by 15 points during round 12 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition yesterday. The first half was tight with Reynella holding a slender four-point lead at halftime. ‘Christies’ came out firing in the third quarter, kicking three goals to none, before running out winners 5.4 (34) to 3.1 (19). Chelsea Salvemini kicked three goals for the Saints, while the Wine Flies’ three goals were kicked by Caitlin Walter, Angelica Ranieri and Madison Bennett. Best players for Christies Beach were Angelique Dean, Salvemini, Evelyn Goldsmith, Brooke O’Brien and Tallara Power. Reynella's best were Indiana Barbour, Jessica Redigolo, Ranieri, Sarah Bourn and Sophie Bradford.


Cove consolidated their spot in the top-four with a comfortable 59-point win against Noarlunga. Cove led by 18 points at the last change before kicking six goals to none in the last term to win 12.8 (80) to 3.3 (21). Makayla Brown (4), Ella Gill (2) and Emma Willoughby (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Cobras, while Karlee Moffatt kicked all three goals for the Shoes. Best players for Cove included Lauren Kenny, Jaymie Savaidis, Gill, Kate Galley and Breanna Stoldt. Moffatt was named best for the Shoes and she was well supported by Shontaya Burgoyne, Megan Weetra, Rikki-Lee Escritt and Hannah Long-Scafidi. 


Port Noarlunga moved to the top of the ladder with a convincing 175-point defeat of Hackham. ‘Porties’ led by 73 points at halftime before kicking a further 16 goals to one in the second half to win 26.25 (181) to 1.0 (6). Philippa Worthley kicked 10 goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Cockle Divers, while Amber O’Hanlon kicked five. Charmaine Mulloy was the sole goalkicker for the Hawks. Joining Worthley in the best players for Port Noarlunga were Shakira Dolman, Lorelai Jeisman, Madison Harris and Amber O’Hanlon. Hackham was best served by Alisha MacFayden, Maddison Hay, Yvette Desmond, Shayley MacFayden and Casey Elliott. 


Reigning premiers Flagstaff Hill kept their finals hopes alive with a big 151-point win against Aldinga. The Falcons led by 70 points at halftime, and added a further 12 goals in the second half to run out winners 22.19 (151) to 0.0 (0). Emily Brockhurst and Amber Cloughessy were standouts for the Falcons with eight goals apiece, while Piper Crosby kicked three majors. Other good players for ‘Flaggies’ included Elizabeth Johnson, Chloe Meyers and Brooke Watson. Best for the Sharks were Ayla Regione, Paige Bartlett, Paige Curtin, Nikki Duggan and Holly Marsh.
