Christmas cheer at Clayton BayLou Nicholson and children Lily, Harriet and Astrid with David and Yvonne Rhodes at Clayton Bay.

Families all over the Fleurieu have been enjoying the lavish light displays, generously shared by so many householders in the region.

David and Yvonne Rhodes of Clayton Bay have been presenting a winter wonderland-themed display for the last 17 years.

There is a lot of work involved, with set up starting at their Gilbert Street home in October.

For the festive season David and Yvonne switch on the lights at 9pm every night until 7 January.

The couple, who emigrated from the UK more than 50 years ago, give presents to all children who visit.

"This is our way of remembering seeing the snow every year at Christmas and giving presents to the children gives you pleasure for the whole year,” Yvonne says.

Finniss First’s Lou Nicholson took her three children to see the legendary Clayton Bay Christmas lights.

“It’s a wonderful display of love and hard work for Christmas cheer,” she says.

David and Yvonne receive visitors to see the lights from the city and all over the Fleurieu.

A guide to many Christmas lights displays across the region can be found under the Christmas button on the Fleurieu app.
